Hood and rear hatch gas lifters can become faulty over time causing the them to not support the opening and holding function they were designed for. This can cause a headache if the cowling needs to be removed or the rear of the car needs to be accessed. A simple solution is the gas lever locking tool. Simply extend the hood or back hatch to its full extension, then attach the locking tool to the faulty gas lever to hold it in place.
