General
For guitarists who make frequent and intensive use of their tremolo bridge, (double) locking tremolo units such as the Floyd Rose are invaluable. They ensure that your guitar stays in tune, even after prolonged use. Whenever you want to use Drop D tuning, however, it's another matter. Lowering the bottom E string changes the tension right across the bridge, meaning that you need to retune all of the strings. This means that what should be a fairly simple process becomes a bigger job. With the EVH D-Tuna, however, this problem is eliminated! Guitar legend Eddie Van Halen designed the D-Tuna as a solution.
Operating the EVH D-Tuna
It allows you to quickly and easily tune a guitar with a (double) locking tremolo bridge to Drop D without having to retune the other strings. That's great for guitars who only use Drop D tuning in their playing now and again. The D-Tuna is available in different colours. This model is the black version. It's suitable for different types of double locking tremolo systems, including those from Floyd Rose and Ibanez. Simply remove the locking screw from the low E string and replace it with the D-Tuna. Then, with one turn of the D-Tuna you can tune your low E string to a D. The spring in the D-Tuna ensures that the tension of the other strings across the bridge is unchanged, so that your instrument stays in tune.
