Description:
Eschenbach & Bamberg Symphony Orchestra's Bruckner Symphony No. 2 March 2024 Session Recording 2024The classical music world is abuzz with the 200th anniversary of Bruckner's birth, and a number of high-profile recordings are being released one after the other. Featured here is Bruckner's Symphony No. 2 by the Bamberg Symphony Orchestra and its honorary conductor, Christoph Eschenbach. The first time they performed together in concert was of course with Eschenbach as a pianist, on October 1, 1965. Hiroyuki Iwashiro, the first Japanese conductor to conduct the Vienna Philharmonic Orchestra in 1977 and a conductor who has been active overseas, took the podium for the concert, which featured Smetana's Overture to "The Sold Bride" and Tchaikovsky's Symphony No. 5, with Eschenbach as the young pianist who had just won the first prize at the Clara Haskil Competition. Eschenbach appeared as a young pianist who had just won the Clara Haskil Competition. Her performance of Schumann's Piano Concerto left a strong impression on the people of Bamberg.More than half a century later, in 2024, a session recording was made there in full force to celebrate the bicentennial of the birth of the great classical composer. Bruckner's Second Symphony is an early work, but it is already overflowing with Bruckner's personality. Eschenbach, who specializes in Mahler and Tchaikovsky, is unique in his aestheticism, rich lyric beauty, and wide range of expression. The grandeur, dramatic tension, and lyrical beauty expressed by Eschenbach's conducting are a joy to hear. King International
