Barry Can'T Swim
Description:
Barry Cant Swim, one of the fastest rising electronic artists in the world, releases his latest album in 2025 on NINJA TUNE!Barry Cant Swim, an Edinburgh-based producer who has garnered attention for his fusion of digital production and organic music, has released his new album "Loner" on Ninja Tune.Loner" is an exploration of Barry Cant Swim's search and exploration of the world in which he finds himself. The album is a very personal work that asks profound questions of himself and the listener.Despite the overwhelming success of his live shows around the world and the numerous accolades he has received, "Loner" is rooted in his origins. It is a reflection of his down-to-earth attitude as a human being and a constantly evolving artist. If my first album was a collage of the music I loved and was influenced by growing up, this album is the most authentic expression of myself and my life over the past year," Barry said of "Loner. The Person You'd Like To Be," which was recently released suddenly prior to the album's release, will be the opening track of Loner.Other tracks include "Still Riding," which samples Kali Uchis' vocals, the disco-leaning "Chosen," and "About To Begin," which evokes the transcendent power of club music. There are also moments that defy expectations, such as the nostalgic and emotional tracks "Cars Pass By Like Childhood Sweethearts" and "Marriage".This album is being released after the dramatic leaps and bounds that have occurred over the past year and a half. In this short time, Barry has quickly risen to become one of the most sought-after electronic artists in the world, and his debut album, "When Will We Land?", released on Ninja Tune in October 2023, won the 2024 Mercury Prize from Charlie XCX, Beth Gibbons, English Teacher, Getz, and The Last Dinner Party. He is one of the rare electronic artists to be nominated for a Mercury Prize, along with Aphex Twin, Near Archives, Brial, Jamie XX, Fred Agean, and Jon Hopkins.Barry's rapid rise continues, with every headlining show he has played in his career to date sold out. In particular, 15,000 tickets for three shows at London's Brixton Academy in November 2024 sold out in just two hours.Other live highlights include a stunning performance at last year's Glastonbury Festival, which drew the largest audience in Park Stage history, and a packed house at the Coachella Festival. Finally, it has been announced that the band will make its first visit to Japan this summer at Fuji Rock Festival '25.
